Alexander McQueen Short Films by John Maybury
for the Spring/Summer 2003 Collection Show: Irere

A triptych of three films commissioned to augment the themes underpinning McQueen's collection of shipwreck, tropical and nocturne; each required a vastly different treatment. Whereas depicting a 'drowning' dress involved a major underwater filming session at Elstree, the nocturnal shoot meant shooting in night vision, the vivid colour piece with thermal cameras in a studio. All three were shown on massive screens, backgrounding the catwalk show, whilst vision mixers used night vision and thermal cameras to capture live footage and intercut it with the related films in an impressive real-time imaging performance.
